About Warren
Warren R. Basla's Biography

The first time I read a National Geographic magazine, I wanted to be an explorer.

Photographers, journalists, and writers captured the planet's natural beauty. They fixed my gaze on groundbreaking discoveries. A revelation, and celebration, of world cultures.

The wonders of NatGeo inspired me to study Cultural Anthropology. I developed a passion for research, a zeal for learning. What better way to share this enthusiasm to learn than to study education. My professional career began as a tutor. I've led young people in providing academic programming. I work at a non-profit as a fundraiser. At the heart of fundraising, and education, is a good story.
When I began to travel as a young person, my world expanded. I kept a journal. Sketches of ideas. A cultural faux pas. Brief reflections of a lived experience. Narratives peeked from between the lines.

Journals became poems, short stories became novels. Global escapades, arduous journeys, good conquering evil. My forthcoming work is an exploration of adventure, of purpose; it intends to make the familiar strange, and strange, familiar.

To be an 'explorer at heart' means I must be a writer.
